How to Convert Decimal to Percent

The reverse of percent to decimal — just as easy

The Rule

To convert a decimal to a percent, multiply by 100 — or simply move the decimal point two places to the right, then add the % sign.
Percent = Decimal × 100

This is the exact reverse of converting a percent to a decimal.

Examples

Common Conversions
0.75 → move decimal 2 right → 75%
0.5 → move decimal 2 right → 50%
0.03 → move decimal 2 right → 3%
Decimals Greater Than 1
1.0 → 100%
1.5 → 150%
2.25 → 225%

Any decimal greater than 1 converts to a percent over 100%.

When Do You Need This?

Calculators often give answers as decimals. If you divide 3 by 4 and get 0.75, converting to 75% makes it easier to understand and communicate.

Test scores, statistics, and financial returns are all more intuitive as percentages. "You got 0.92" means less to most people than "You got 92%."

💡 Quick Check: Decimals less than 1 become percents less than 100%. Decimals greater than 1 become percents greater than 100%.
